BankID

BankID is your digital ID that allows you to securely and easily identify yourself online. You can use it to sign documents and agreements in your bank and on numerous public portals, as well as for secure online shopping.

BankID app – the safest choice

The BankID app is a digital version of your code card. It’s safer, simpler, and better than other BankID methods because it’s based on newer technology.

With the BankID app, you’re better protected against fraud because you don’t have to enter any codes. You also get better information about logins/purchases and can easily cancel if something seems off. You can activate the app with your passport, national ID card, or your code card.

Questions and answers about BankID

To get BankID, first you`ll need to visit the bank and provide valid identification. 

You have two options for submitting your identification:

  • Visit our nearest branch: Please bring a valid form of identification to our nearest branch.
  • Postal service (PUM): We will send you a personal collection request. You can then take your identification to your nearest post office.

In order to qualify for Bank-ID the following requirements have to be in order:

  1. You need to have a Norwegian personal number. 
  2. You need to be able to speak either Norwegian or English.
  3. You need to be able to use the Bank-ID without help from others.
  4. You need to have a permanent Norwegian address.
  5. You need to have Sogn Sparebank as your main bank.

You can use BankID for a variety of online services, including:

  • Online banking: Accessing your bank accounts and making transactions.
  • Government services: Filing taxes, renewing your passport, and more.
  • E-commerce: Making purchases online.
  • Signing digital documents.
